How do I turn a photo into a pencil sketch?
Pick Sketch. It finds the outlines and inverts them, so you get dark lines on white paper. Raise Smoothing until the shading settles down, then raise Threshold until only the lines you want survive.
My edges look like static — what's wrong?
Edge detection reacts to any change between neighbouring pixels, including sensor noise. Raise Smoothing (it blurs the image before looking for edges) and raise Threshold to drop the weakest ones. Photos taken in low light usually need both.
What's the difference between Emboss and Relief?
Emboss flattens everything to grey stone, lit from your chosen angle — the classic carved look. Relief applies the same ridges but keeps the original colours, so the photo is still recognisable and just gains depth.
What does the light angle change?
Which side of every edge catches the light and which falls into shadow. Rotating it 180° makes raised areas look sunken instead. The arrow buttons jump to the eight common directions.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
